Trusting the Spirits: Offering an Egg to a Tree

This short autobiographical essay emerged from my need to precisely explain – mainly to myself – what exactly I was trying to accomplish by performing a particular voodoo (or vodou) ceremony. Also, in a secular world that marginilizes spiritual thought, and with a religious mainstream that marginilizes polytheism, I made an attempt to present a justification of performing this particular voodoo ceremony, one that might make both an academic atheist and a mainstream monotheist more sympathetic to what I was doing.
